Hisham Foad is an Associate Professor and the Fred J. Hansen Peace Chair at San Diego State University. He received his B.A. degree from Kenyon College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Emory University. Dr. Foad’s research focuses on the interactions between the movements of capital, goods, and people across national borders. Recent publications look at the effects of border walls on crime and how birthright citizenship affects migrant incentives. He has taught a wide range of courses including two courses he developed: the economics of inequality (Econ 404) and the economics of the Middle East (Econ 466). He also serves as the program sponsor for the economics degree completion program offered through SDSU Global Campus. Dr. Foad is committed to expanding interdisciplinary collaborations between Economics and other departments, serving as a core member and major advisor of the Center for Islamic and Arabic Studies and a member of the SDSU working group on addressing homelessness.
